I am fortunate to have been called to live in magical
Avalon, but realise that not everyone can do so. And I have lived
in London, inner city Liverpool, several suburbs, towns and villages
in my time, including a couple of years in Central Africa and several
months in Holland.
It can be difficult to see the landscape
of the Goddess in a blighted inner city or a soulless suburb, but
She is certainly there – in the hills and valleys buried
under concrete, in the streams diverted into concrete culverts
deep underground, maybe even dancing in the roaring flames of riot,
war, civil unrest. We can find Goddess anywhere on – and
off – our beautiful but oft-misused earth.
Once upon a time there was one correspondence course
called Getting
to know the Goddess - but it became too long and, I feared
too expensive, so split the material into two parts.
Plans are at an early stage, but the new course will
include material like that below and will be of a similar length and
price
to Getting to know the Goddess:
The Goddess in the landscape – we will begin
simply, with our own rooms and internal landscapes, our own minds and
hearts, creating
sacred
space and building altars to Her.
Later, we will look for some of Her
special places in the area where you live and also consider Her names.
Just as Avalon/Glastonbury has its own special Goddesses of the landscape,
so we will learn to intuit and discover, by a variety of means, the
Goddesses in any landscape or area we choose.
We may also carefully plan how a
visit to a more difficult or dangerous area can be made, if students
wish to do so. It may be that you feel the area you now live in is
difficult enough. No one must feel s/he has to do this! We will look
for examples of the dark Goddess in our cities or in the countryside
surrounding our homes and learn to understand Her ways.
There will be more information here soon - please check back!
